2012 Robotics Season Kick-Off

2012 Robotics Registration is Open

Please either register here or send an email to coaches@herndonrobotics.org with the following information:   Child’s Name, Birthday, Shirt Size, Parent’s Name, Email, Phone, Mailing Address.  We registered two teams so far this season and are committed to helping support as many as needed (assuming we can get more parents to help support our growth).  Please make sure to let us know if your child will be returning from last season

Schedule of Events:

MoonBots Challenge – Optional Pre-Season Activity

This challenge is the perfect complement to our season. It is a 2 phase competition which involves producing a video about the Moon & if selected, another phase of Lunar Robotics building and programming. Check out the details here.

FIRST LEGO League 2012 – Phase I (Project Theme released)

This year we are going to try something new…  we will be starting our season early and begin brainstorming ideas for the project portion of the FLL challenge, which is:

The 2012 Senior Solutions Challenge will ask FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams to improve the quality of life for seniors by helping them continue to be independent, engaged, and connected in their communities.  Kids this year will explore the topic of aging and how it may affect a person’s ability to maintain his or her lifestyle – solving issues like getting around, keeping in touch, or staying fit.  Teams will research obstacles and then suggest ways to improve the quality of life for the seniors affected.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas for road trips to assist the kids in the research phase of their projects.

FIRST LEGO League 2012 – Phase II (Robotics challenge August 28, 2012)

Once the official challenge is released (at the end of August), we will build and program our robots to compete in the Regional FIRST events (typically in the November time-frame).

Hopefully we can make it to the State Competition again this year!
